Some people dumb down themselves because being different is too painful. But remember being yourself is your birth right. Expressing yourself is synonymous with leadership. Leaders are people who choose to express themselves fully and inspire others to do the same. By expressing yourself, you encourage others to speak up and free themselves!

We’re living in a system that is against us. This system won’t allow you to manifest your gift, fulfil your dreams, and express your talents… Why? Because they’re afraid of your AfroGlobal appeal, afraid of your potential, afraid of your ability to spark people’s brains.

That’s why they trained us to limit ourselves, limit our gift and never become true leaders. We have been damaged by our educational systems and conditioned to believe that we are here on earth to work in a place we hate, pay our bills, retire and die.

“I didn’t come through all of that just to fit in with normally. I have the courage to go after my dream” — T.D Jakes

T.D Jakes said it well; you didn’t come through all of that just to fit in with normally. Your parents, your ancestors didn’t come through all of that for nothing. We owe them to become the best version of ourselves. They fought for our freedom. Today is time to honour them and stand up for our rights, our community, and our future.

Don’t go through life feeling powerless; you are not powerless. YOU ARE POWERFUL! Make a choice today. Make a choice that you will no longer let people humiliate you; normalise your gift and your talents. Instead, let them rise up to your level, in order to be around you.

“Sometimes it’s the people closer to you that won’t believe in you. And I want you to understand why they’re too close to you to see your greatness. They’re too familiar with you … they normalise you, normalise your gift, your vision, your greatness … And the mistake that a lot of people make is we go seek their validation, their agreement.” — Trent Shelton

You can allow them to destroy you, or you can allow it to build you up! It’s up to you! It doesn’t matter where you are or what you have done. Life’s about growing, being productive; it’s about challenging yourself. So, start looking around and decide to improve your skills, knowledge, health, relationships and income.

Look at your surroundings and observe the people around you. Is this person supporting me on my mission? Do we see the world in the same way? Do we have meaningful conversations? Are they keeping me in my ego or when I am around them do I move into my heart space? Are they improving my mental health – or are they making it worse?

If they aren’t helping you to evolve… Then they are a distraction!

In the same way, if you are the smartest one in the group, it’s time to leave the group. It’s time to level up and find a new group of friends, a new workspace, and a new environment.

Surround yourself with people who are good for your mental heath. Choose to speak up and stand up for yourself, and have the courage to go after your dreams.

You owe it to yourself to become everything you have ever dreamt of being.
