Welcome to the first instalment of ‘Your Body Language’. This is the part of YOUR magazine where you can learn more about your body, how it works and how you can improve it. I will also be talking about what others are doing to and with their bodies, as well as highlighting their positive and negative effects. We will also be sharing feelings, fears and thoughts about the bodies of our audience and facilitating discussions about body issues both online and within these pages. So make sure you always pick up your copy of YOUR magazine!
Considering that we are going to look into as many things as possible about the body, I thought it would be a good starting point to share some interesting facts about the body that you may or may not already know. There is no point trying to fix or improve something that you don’t know anything about. That is like men trying to assemble their latest DIY project without looking at the manual – it is bound to go wrong!
Here are few points about YOUR body that may interest you.
There are over 650 muscles in the human body.
Human thigh bones are stronger than concrete.
A pair of feet has 500,000 sweat glands (makes me wonder why we use deodorant under our arms and not on our feet!)
Your body creates a new stomach lining every 3 to 4 days.
Your nose can remember up to 50,000 scents.
These are just a few body facts and the type of topics YOUR Body Language will be looking at. I will also be addressing issues such as skin bleaching and how it affects your health, plastic surgery (which is a growing trend in general), nutrition, obesity and many more. I will also be giving training tips and nutritional information; so make sure you make a point of reading this feature and staying updated on our community page.
See you all in the next issue!
