Delightful to meet, articulate, flawless — YolanDa Brown is one of those rare individuals whose presence immediately warms a room. Brilliant in thought and effortless in expression, she made Tracey Debankah’s interview flow with ease and authenticity.

As I watched the conversation unfold, one thought kept returning to me: what an extraordinary blend of talent, humility, and groundedness this woman carries. And when she wrapped me in a warm, genuine hug at the end, it confirmed everything I had sensed — YolanDa is as beautiful in spirit as she is in artistry.

Honestly, I simply adore YolanDa.

Tracey: Does Africa fit into your future plans?

YolanDa:
“Well, I’ve played in Nigeria before — four years running, actually — and I would love to tour in other African countries if the opportunity arises. I visit Africa every year now, and I absolutely love it there… not that I have much choice, as my family is now African.”

Her answer was delivered with the same joy and sincerity that defines her music — a reminder that her connection to Africa is not just professional, but deeply personal.

YolanDa Brown is more than a celebrated saxophonist; she is a bridge between cultures, a storyteller through sound, and a woman whose journey continues to inspire audiences across the world.
